An LED light bar is wired through a relay that gets its signal from the high beam, so the bar turns on and off together with your high beam. The power comes straight from the battery through a fuse.
What do you need?
You need a relay wiring kit sized for the number of lights you fit, a high beam signal and a place to mount the relay. Our relay wiring kits have plug and play connectors, a fuse and the relay in one harness.
Where does the high beam signal come from?
On older cars you take the signal from the high beam wire at the headlight. On newer cars where the computer controls the lights, a plug-in solution like XBB reads the signal from the diagnostic port instead, so you do not cut any wires.
How is it done, step by step?
1. Mount the light and the relay. 2. Run the power cable to the battery, with the fuse close to the battery. 3. Connect the signal cable to the high beam signal. 4. Connect the ground. 5. Plug in the light and test that it switches with the high beam.
What should you check afterwards?
Check that the light switches off when you dip to low beam and that no warning lights come on in the dashboard. Aim the light so it points straight ahead.
Would you rather have it fitted?
You can book installation at one of our partner workshops from the product page.
